The final whistle of spring is sounding—daffodils have rolled into the siding, making way for mayapples to take the mainline as the new stars of the show. The sun-stretched days are picking up speed, and soon, summer’s heat will be laying heavy on the rails.
And, of course, no visit here is complete without our trusty neighbors, the guys at CSX, keeping time with the rumble of boxcars and the call of diesel horns. It’s the perfect soundtrack as we highball toward the golden days of summer.
Demo work inside P&LE 518 is underway! The bathroom countertop and cabinets are out, and soon the drywall will come down. Fingers crossed the original caboose walls are still intact behind it—we’ll know soon!
