As we mark the one-year anniversary of owning Caboose Falls, it’s hard not to reflect on the mix of emotions we felt that first day. It was a mix of excitement and nervousness in equal measure. There was so much to love about owning three cabooses, but there was also a lot of uncertainty surrounding the condition of the property and our ability to tackle the unknown challenges that lay ahead.

As this year draws to a close, we are grateful to have been able to welcome visitors, share the stories of our cabooses, and make new friends.
2025 promises more adventures, more discoveries, and—who knows?—maybe even a few surprises down the line. Here’s to a year of keeping the lanterns glowing, the marker lights shining bright, and the history alive.

Every caboose has a story, for some, like RM17, the story is very much a mystery. From its rugged beginnings tailing taconite ore trains in northern Minnesota to its misguided excursion into New Jersey, this caboose traveled far and wide before finding its forever home at Caboose Falls.
