P&LE 565: Caught in the Wild

P&LE 565 in its natural habitat, captured at McKees Rocks, PA

If you’re a fan of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad, you know one thing for certain: good photography of their transfer cabooses is rare. The gritty work of these cars kept them away from the spotlight.

That’s why we were so excited to come across this image.

It recently surfaced, showing our very own P&LE 565 at McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. It’s a wonderful glimpse of the caboose as it was meant to be seen: on the job.
